Apple is known for keeping upcoming iPhones under wraps, but this time, something seems to have slipped through the cracks. A recent data breach at Tata Electronics, one of Apple’s manufacturing partners in India, has reportedly exposed thousands of internal files, including documents and images related to the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro.

Videos claiming to show the iPhone 18 Pro undergoing a drop test have started making the rounds online. The clips appeared on social media but didn’t stay up for long. Several posts were quickly removed, and one account that shared the videos was even suspended. Despite the takedowns, copies of the footage are still circulating online.

The short clips allegedly show a silver-gray iPhone being dropped onto a testing surface with a checkered pattern. The phone appears to survive the fall without any major damage, although the drop itself doesn’t seem particularly high. If the footage is genuine, it gives us one of our first looks at the iPhone 18 Pro months before its official announcement.

The device shown in the video looks very similar to the current iPhone 17 Pro, though there are a few differences. The back panel appears to have a more unified finish instead of the two-tone look seen on the iPhone 17 Pro. The rear camera lenses also seem to stick out slightly more than before. Some viewers also noticed that the phone appears thicker, though it’s difficult to tell whether that’s actually the case or simply the result of the video being stretched or distorted.

Is this a legitimate leak?

Reuters recently reported that files stolen from Tata Electronics included drop test images, supplier information, and component details for the iPhone 18 Pro, which does line up with the videos that have surfaced online. However, there is still no official confirmation that the clips are genuine. Some believe Apple may have requested their removal, while others think they could have been taken down because they originated from an account impersonating a well-known leaker, Evan Blass.

Evan Blass claims he is no longer in control of the @evleaks handle on X – and that specific account was even suspended after the clips were posted online. As such, there’s every possibility that the footage was faked (or AI-generated) before being posted to an account which had previously been seen as a source of reliable leaks.

That said, Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and possibly a new iPhone Fold during its September event. Until then, it’s probably best to take this leak with a grain of salt. What we do know for sure is that the new iPhone lineup will support Apple’s Siri AI upgrade coming later this year to iOS 27; beta versions have already begun rolling out.
