Nvidia’s RTX 5090 and 5080 GPUs, soon after their ‘paper’ launch, faced major pricing issues, with scalpers and even board partners taking advantage of low stock and charging way above MSRP. Many hoped the RTX 50 series situation would improve as we moved down to the more ‘affordable’ graphics cards, but that isn’t the case.

The RTX 5070 Ti launched yesterday, or rather, made an appearance because minutes after going live, it was already out of stock. While there were rumors of “very limited” availability, we hoped it to be better than what we saw with the previous two RTX 50 series GPUs. Unfortunately, the same thing happened again. Scalpers are now listing RTX 5070 Ti cards on eBay for double the price, with one even charging more than the MSRP of the RTX 5090.

Get an RTX 5070 Ti for a low price of $2,100

The cheapest RTX 5070 Ti currently available on eBay is the ASUS PRIME NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, listed for $1,199, which is more than $450 above its $749 MSRP. From there, the prices only get worse, with listings at $1,400 and $1,650, climbing all the way to a staggering $2,100, which is $100 more than the official MSRP of the RTX 5090, the flagship GPU in the series.

How long before the situation gets better?

This means that if you were planning to buy the so-called ‘affordable’ graphics cards in the RTX 50 series lineup, you are now looking at prices twice the MSRP, with no clear idea of when the situation will improve. After a month-long wait, Nvidia recently reintroduced its Priority Access Program to help verified gamers and creators secure an RTX 50 series GPU, but the program is currently limited to RTX 5090 and 5080 Founders Edition models, with no mention of the RTX 5070 Ti joining anytime soon.

The only real alternative for gamers comes from AMD, with the RX 9070 series set to launch in just a few weeks. The RX 9070 and 9070 XT feature 16GB of VRAM, and early performance rumors suggest the flagship could outperform not just the RTX 4080 but even get close to the RTX 4090. If true, this could put the Red Team in a strong position. The only hope now is that AMD has better stock than Nvidia and doesn’t mess up the pricing. Otherwise, mid-range gamers could be in for a rough time when it comes to upgrading.
