First Steam Machine price leak appears at online retailer, revealing over $1,000 for the top model

When it comes to Valve’s new Steam Machine, the question on everyone’s mind is: how much does it cost? Valve is yet to make an announcement, but a new leak may put us one step closer to the answer, and it’s not pretty. The first thing we should disclose is that leaks like this should be taken with a grain of salt. In any case, Czech retailer Smarty has already listed the new mini-PC on its store, and a little digging into the source code reveals some preliminary pricing.
The Steam Machine will be available in early 2026 in two different storage sizes, 512GB and 2TB, and as you’d imagine, these will differ in price. Based on a poll we ran recently, most people would be willing to pay between $600 and $699 for the cubed machine, but the latest leak reveals the possibility of a baseline price tag around the $950 mark.
Steam Machine just got its first price leak at a Czech retailer
Thanks to an eagle-eyed user on Reddit, potential prices for the Steam Machine have been leaked. The Czech online retailer lists both the Steam Machine 2TB and Steam Machine 512GB models, and while the price is not explicitly set on the frontend of the website, the source code reveals the following prices (in Czech Koruna).
- 512GB model: 19,826 CZK
- 2TB model: 22,305 CZK
These prices translate to roughly $950 and $1,070 USD, respectively, excluding tax. We already know that the Steam Machine won’t be subsidized and sold at a loss, as many consoles do, so every component of the mini-PC has to be considered when putting together a price tag. An interesting proposal put forward by a leaker last month suggested that Valve will also release a “bare bones” model to combat rising RAM costs, though that remains to be seen in this Czech retailer listing.

Again, these details should not be considered final whatsoever – there’s a good reason why the price is not visible on the store’s frontend. It’s likely that Valve is yet to decide on a price tag, and until the Steam creators announce something official, any price information should remain speculative.
