German CPU sales report shows AMD dominating the charts, Intel nowhere near the top 10

2024 was a great year for AMD, with successful launches and strong sales. We saw the launch of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU, which quickly became one of the best gaming processors available. The demand was so high that it sold out within minutes of its launch across popular retailers. And now, recent sales data from January 2025 confirms that AMD has had a solid start to the new year.
AMD even blamed Intel for stock issues at one point, as a result of poor competition from its key rival. It went on to explain further reasons why the popular 9800X3D chip is always out of stock, but sales continue to thrive regardless – especially in certain regions.

9800X3D dominating the sales charts
Recently, TechEpiphany shared some data on X, showcasing CPU sales for January. The sales numbers are from large German retailer Mindfactory and reveal how well the 9800X3D is performing despite low-stock issues.
So far in January, AMD has sold over 17,000 processors, with the 9800X3D leading at around 7,700 units sold, followed by the 7600X3D with 2,050 units. Just behind them is the 7800X3D, which sold 1,440 units. However, the numbers would have been much higher if the 7800X3D wasn't difficult to find, as it is either out of stock at retailers or listed at an unreasonably high price.
Things aren't looking great for Intel, as its top processor on the list, the Core i7-14700K, has sold only 110 units, followed by the 14600KF with just 100 units. Overall, Intel’s total sales appear to be less than 1,500 units, and as expected, the Core Ultra series ranks low on the chart.
As you can see for yourself, AMD is dominating the charts, with all of the top 10 processors being Ryzen, and Intel is nowhere near them. If the 9800X3D and 7800X3D weren't facing low stock issues, the numbers would have been much higher, possibly even double.
In any case, AMD fans are currently looking forward to the launch of the 9950X3D and 9900X3D CPUs. Both were announced during CES 2025 and are scheduled to be released in Q1 2025. The former will be a 16-core CPU with a TDP of 170W, while the 9900X3D will be a 12-core processor with a 120W TDP.
