God of War Ragnarok, the sequel to the popular 2018 title God of War, was released for PC players today. The game is available for download from Steam and Epic Games, priced at $59.99. Once you’ve got past the cost, it’s a huge file size and a long download process to get into the action, but once you do, you’re in for a treat.
While God of War Ragnarok might have arrived late for PC gamers, it looks like the game has a few PC-only features at launch and they’ll be added to consoles at a later date.
PC players can reduce the frequency of puzzle hints
According to the official post on PlayStation Blog, PC players will have the option to reduce the frequency of puzzle hints that Kratos’ companions keep giving throughout the game. “A new option in the Gameplay Settings tab, enabling this will reduce the frequency with which you hear puzzle hints from your companions” the post reads.
Interestingly, this is something that players have requested for a long time. And it looks like the devs have decided to act on the feedback. “I wanted to replay it, but everytime I heard Atreus say the solution before I even got there, I was going mad. Why did they wait so much though? It was a complaint from day one,” a user commented on Reddit.
Plus, looking through this thread on Reddit will tell you that plenty of people found this “annoying” – a quick Ctrl + F search is all that’s needed. And we agree, what’s the point in a puzzle if the game gives up the secret right away?
This feature is only on PC for the time being
At the moment, the reduced hints feature is only available on the PC version. The official blog post mentioned that the setting will be added to PS5 and PS4 soon. In addition to this setting, PC players have access to cinematic audio descriptions, which provide audio descriptions of visual events during cinematics to give more context. Plus, the developers have added custom streamer alerts for streamers.
In case you missed it, God of War Ragnarok was released oc PC earlier today after nearly two years of PlayStation exclusivity. The game is now available on PS5, PS4, and PC. Following the release, some players reported crashing and black screen issues, which will hopefully be addressed soon.
On the same note, judging from the official system requirements, God of War Ragnarok is a fairly demanding game. But with the right GPU, it can run 4K high settings at high framerates, as Nvidia has shown in its recent benchmarks.
