Hi-Fi RUSH ditches Denuvo after change of ownership, and the devs say they are “turning up the volume”

Denuvo is being removed from Hi-Fi RUSH, as announced in the latest update, Patch 10. This is possibly one of the game’s final updates, though the developers themselves seem unsure about that detail. In any case, the latest patch comes after developers Tango Gameworks found a new home with publishers Krafton, who previously removed Denuvo implementation in its The Sims competitor, inZOI.
Hi-Fi RUSH was released over two years ago to widespread praise, with its rhythm-based combat and stylish visuals impressing gamers and reviewers alike. Bethesda Softworks originally published the action game, but following changes within Microsoft’s Gaming subdivision, Tango Gameworks was closed down; Krafton chose to revive it.
Denuvo is being removed in January 2026
For those who don’t know, Denuvo is anti-tamper software, otherwise known as Digital Rights Management (DRM), designed to prevent piracy by securing the game’s executable file at the binary level. This kind of software is rarely popular with gamers, especially as it is often associated with a negative impact on performance. Earlier this year, we also saw the software axed from Final Fantasy 16 on PC.
Denuvo support for the PC version of Hi-Fi RUSH is scheduled to end at 00:00(KST) on January 16, 2026. Please note that even after Denuvo is removed, the game’s own anti-tampering features will remain active and will not affect normal gameplay.
This adjustment is intended to provide a more stable and efficient service environment. We sincerely appreciate all players who continue to support the game through legitimate use.

It’s important to note that this is a mandatory patch due to a “major change in architecture”. Anyone on the older version will be unable to play. As for the other changes in Patch 10, it mostly includes content related to the publisher transition, such as inserting Krafton logos and a new splash screen logo – “no playable content was removed or altered”.
Tango Gameworks was officially closed on June 14, 2024, but an agreement with Krafton was announced a couple of months later. The publishing rights were eventually transferred on November 14, 2025, which explains a sudden burst of news in early December. In addition to the Patch 10 changes and Denuvo removal, the developers took to social media to announce their new website and YouTube channel, aptly saying that they’re “turning up the volume”.

The revival may suggest we can look forward to more news regarding a Hi-Fi RUSH sequel, which was previously reported to be in development, though it’s too early to confirm this. However, with the Game Awards just around the corner (December 11), maybe we’ll get to hear a thing or two – if we’re lucky.
