Apple has finally given its line of All-in-One iMacs a refresh, so we’re taking a look at the iMac M3 release date, specs, and price. The M3 chip launched at Apple’s “Scary Fast” event is being called in to power the new iMac, integrating the memory, graphics, and processor onto one single chip. This not only makes way for a faster and more efficient neural engine, but a monitor that’s only 11.5mm thick. While it might not have been the iMac Pro upgrade that some were hoping for, many will still want to get their hands on the upgraded colorful line of iMac M3 computers. Here’s all you need to know!

iMac M3 release date

As we just mentioned, the new iMac M3 was announced at Apple’s launch event on the 30th of October, but what about its official release date? Well, pre-orders for the device have now gone live, and it has been confirmed by Apple that the M3 iMac will be fully available from the 7th of November, 2023. This is the same pre-order and release schedule as the other M3 powered device launched at the event, the new MacBook Pro. You can find out more about the MacBook Pro release date, specs, and pricing here if you’re torn between getting a laptop or the Apple all-in-one.

iMac M3 specs

The playful, colorful, and stylish design of the M3 iMac doesn’t differ much from its predecessor at all physically. They both sport a 24″ 4.5K Retina display, with a 4480 x 2520 resolution and 500 nits brightness, and come in the same seven colorways, but this is where the similarities end. The addition of the M3 chip gives the performance of the 2023 computer a much-needed boost, with Apple quoting it to be 2x faster than the 2021 M1 iMac.

Its combination of “best-in-class camera, speakers, and mics” allows the iMac M3 to stand out among the competition of all-in-one PCs for families, creatives, and businesses. However, faster frame rates, hardware-accelerated ray-tracing, and a performance upgrade from the 8-core CPU and 10-core GPU make the iMac an even more powerful computer for realistic gaming experiences. If that’s not enough, the iMac M3 now features Wi-Fi 6E, which delivers download speeds that are up to twice as fast as the previous generation. Of course, you can expect the seamless experience of Continuity across all your Apple devices, including your iPhone, MacBook, and Apple Watch, which makes the iMac a perfect addition to anyone with an Apple ecosystem.

iMac M3 price

As with the M1 model, the pricing of the new M3 iMac will start at $1,299 for the base model, which features an 8-core GPU, 156 GB storage, 8 GB Unified Memory and the standard Magic Keyboard. However, for $200 more, the next model up is $1,499 and gets you a 10-core CPU, two USB 3 ports, Gigabit Ethernet, and the Magic Keyboard with Touch ID. The final model is priced at $1,699, and sees you get an upgrade to 512 GB storage on top of the features of the $1,499 iMac.

Final thoughts

Overall, similar to the other release of the M3 MacBook, the iMac M3 is definitely more of a specs refresh than a design overhaul. However, it is worth noting that the M3 Pro and M3 Max chips bought to the MacBook have not yet found themselves on the upgraded iMac. This has left many speculating that we’ll see another iMac launch in the future, perhaps an upgrade to the larger iMac Pro that we’ve missed out on this time. But, the base M3 chip made using industry-leading 3nm technology still performs significantly better than the M1, and will speed up your gaming, creating, and everyday tasks.
