Last week, in light of instability issues in Intel’s 13th and 14th generation processors, Intel announced that it would extend the warranty for the boxed CPUs by two years. However, this announcement did not mention Tray CPUs and OEMs.
And now, as per the latest update, Intel will also be extending the warranty for OEMs and Tray CPUs. Here is the full list of 13th and 14th gen Intel processors that are covered by warranty –
OEMs and Tray CPUs will also be covered by warranty
Intel has published another official statement about CPU warranty, and this time, it includes OEMs and Tray chips, which were missing the last time. As per the announcement, users with Tray Processors will have to contact their place of purchase for assistance.
Further, users with OEM or System Integrator desktop systems have been instructed to get in touch with their system manufacturer for assistance.
The announcement also mentions that 13th and 14th-gen CPU customers who experienced instability issues but were unsuccessful in previous RMAs should get in touch with Intel Customer Support for further assistance and solutions.
Intel has been trying to fix the instability issues for months now. So far, the company has tried BIOS fixes, and it is also issuing a microcode fix later this month. The root cause of the issue remains unknown. Further, Intel has clarified that there is no solution for CPUs that have already been degraded.
The instability issues, along with job cuts and suspended dividends, caused Intel stocks to plummet earlier last week. However, amidst this, the company is gearing up for the launch of Core Ultra 200V CPUs in September, and the lineup will power thin and light laptops. While the Arrow Lake CPUs are in the works, it remains unconfirmed whether the 15th-generation processors will arrive this year or in 2025.
