Intel has gone very quiet on the graphics card front since the release of its Arc B580 in December 2024 and Arc B570 this January. The ‘Battlemage' cards are some of the best in the entry-level market. The complete lack of announcements on this front has some worried, but a new leak suggests that work on Intel Arc GPUs is quietly continuing behind the scenes.

The focus of the leak is a certain processor with the codename ‘G31'. According to rumours dating back to late 2024, this processor formed part of a high-end GPU that Intel either abandoned or decided to heavily revise.

Reference to Battlemage sighted in shipping manifest

This same processor has now appeared in a shipping manifest over on NBD Data, spotted by @Haze2K1 on X. The manifest details shipments of ‘BMG-G31' chips to Intel Vietnam. The Vietnam lab has previously produced ‘Limited Edition' versions of Intel Arc graphics cards, which also worked as reference designs. This shipment could indicate that Intel has plans for a new Intel Arc Limited Edition design as part of the Battlemage lineup.

Other reliable leakers, such as OneRaichu, have also suggested that Intel is still working on the G31. In addition, there have been unsubstantiated rumours that Intel is developing a graphics card with 24GB of VRAM. However, this was supposedly labelled as a ‘Developer Edition', making it an unlikely candidate for a consumer-grade GPU.

Despite the Foundry Direct Connect conference and multiple keynote speeches, newly installed Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan has remained quiet on the subject of Intel Arc graphics cards. The Intel Arc may not be a roaring success compared to the market dominance of Nvidia or the growing market share of AMD Radeon, but Arc has carved out a small niche for itself as a decent ultra-budget option. Further competition in the graphics card space can only be a good thing for consumers.
