We may finally get to see the very first Panther Lake-powered gaming handhelds in early June, during the annual Computex conference in Taiwan. According to VideoCardz, Intel is gearing up with its partners to launch Arc G3 and Arc G3 Extreme chips, following a similar naming convention as the AMD Ryzen Z-series processors (the most recent of which are the Z2 and Z2 Extreme, the latter found in the likes of the ROG Xbox Ally X).

It was at CES 2026 in January when Intel first unveiled its new Panther Lake mobile chips. They’re now available in a range of laptops, but Intel said it expected these new processors to power “more than 200 designs” – and handhelds are certainly part of this number. During the event, Intel said it would be “launching an entire handheld gaming platform with Panther Lake,” all the while boasting 82% better performance than AMD-powered counterparts.

Panther Lake handhelds to be revealed in June?

Computex this year takes place between June 2 and June 6, so there isn’t too much longer to wait. Although no specific brand has been singled out to launch a Panther Lake handheld within this timeframe, the easiest brand to suspect is MSI, which has been a champion of Intel processors in its MSI Claw range. An introduction slide that was presented during the CES reveal listed several brands such as Acer, GPD, OneXPlayer, and even Microsoft (plus more).

According to sources, these upcoming handhelds are expected to feature Intel Arc B390 and Arc B370 graphics. Both of these graphics configurations are already available in higher-end Panther Lake laptops. The B390 iGPU, in particular, was showcased in benchmarks earlier this year, delivering performance that was just as good as an Xbox Series S console.

VideoCardz says its sources point towards a configurable TDP with 25W as a base, up to 65W and 80W for max turbo configurations on the new Intel Arc G3 series processors. As for release windows, it’s expected that new handhelds will debut in Q2 2026 and be supported until Q2 2027 before a successor comes along.

It seems that Intel wants to become the go-to vendor for handheld hardware in 2026 despite the longstanding dominance of AMD chips in this space. We do have to mention that it has become a tricky time to launch a handheld in recent times due to widespread memory and storage shortages, driving up prices. For example, the Ryzen Z2 & Z2 Extreme-powered Lenovo Legion Go 2 has seen its price skyrocket in recent months, with the official Lenovo store listing it for over $2,800.
