Large retailer says it has “over 1000” RX 9070 XT cards in stock, and that’s for just one model

We’ve just flown by the RTX 5070 launch, and there is evidently very little stock to go around right now. Just a couple of hours ahead of launch, large UK retailer Overclockers UK said that cards had “yet to arrive,” and it doesn’t look like it will improve much very soon. While this is bad news for Nvidia fans, AMD’s launch of the RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT just one day after is shaping up to be successful on all fronts.
The review embargo has been lifted, and tech reviewers have a lot of praise for the new 9070 cards. On top of that, stock levels are looking incredibly healthy, with OcUK reporting that they have at least 1,000 of the new XT cards – per brand.
Overclockers UK has thousands of RX 9070 XT cards ready to go
What’s the first thing you do when you have a ton of graphics card stock ahead of launch day? Well, at OcUK, you apparently build a Borg Cube out of them, which is completely solid – not hollow. The model in question is the popular Sapphire Pulse SKU we’ve seen for previous AMD Radeon cards, and OcUK has “over 1000 in stock,” according to a post on its forums by Purchasing Manager Andrew Gibson. He goes on to explain that they have “several thousand cards in stock” from multiple partners.
“In fact we have so much stock we could build an armada of Borg Cubes pretty much out of every model we have and from all brands, we have several thousand cards in stock spanning across Sapphire, PowerColor and Asrock all of which have 1000+ in stock of each brand.
We then also have several hundred cards from Gigabyte and ASUS as well, this launch will be impossible to resist as such is the reason we built Borg Cubes, because AMD will assimilate you, resistance is futile, BUY Tomorrow from OcUK at 2pm with prices starting from £524.99 Inc VAT.”
Andrew ‘Gibbo’ Gibson, Overclockers UK Purchasing Manager
There’s no mention of the non-XT model in the post, so we’ll have to wait and see how available the cut-down card is. In any case, we expect the 9070 XT to be the more popular choice considering its MSRP is only $50 more and it withholds excellent value for money. Following a disappointing RTX 5070 launch from Nvidia – even its Founders Edition cards are nowhere to be seen right now – it seems to be a perfect opportunity for Team Red to capitalize.
