Another RTX 50 series launch, another abysmally low amount of available. The RTX 5070 releases today, becoming the fourth graphics card Nvidia has released this year. It follows the RTX 5090, 5080, and 5070 Ti – all of which sold out immediately after going live across the biggest and best retailers out there.

With the RTX 5070 imminent, it doesn’t look like stock levels are going to be any better; they might even be worse than we expected. A couple of days ago, a large Swedish retailer revealed it doesn’t have any RTX 5070 stock, and now, one of the largest British hardware retailers, Overclockers UK, says it doesn’t have any ready to ship either.

Overclockers UK gives RTX 50 series update

According to a recent post on X from Overclockers UK, getting RTX 5070 graphics cards ready to go has been something of a last-minute job. Less than two hours before launch, the company reports having no 5070 cards in stock but expects a limited number of models to arrive on the same day.

  • RTX 5070 stock “has yet to arrive at OCUK, however, some small quantities of limited SKUs are expected to arrive today”.
  • RTX 5070 Ti pre-orders have now ceased and orders will be fulfilled within 1-5 weeks
  • RTX 5080 pre-orders are almost cleared, and the ETA for restocks are expected this month (March)
  • RTX 5090 pre-orders are almost cleared, more stock is expected in 1-2 weeks

People are instead asking about AMD’s new RX 9070 series

With very little stock to go around, it seems inevitable that the RTX 5070 will go out of stock across all major retailers soon after launch at 9 AM EST. With that in mind, people are instead turning their attention to the rival cards, AMD’s Radeon RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT. Both of these cards release tomorrow, and AMD promises “excellent availability across all markets” – a stark contrast to what we’re seeing with Nvidia right now.

In reaction to the stock update from OCUK, we spotted a couple of users inquiring about the new Radeon cards. One person, Chris Coates, says that “nobody cares after the 50 series debacle,” suggesting OCUK put the 9070s on sale instead. Another asks if there are any 9070 cards in stock, though this has yet to be revealed.

RX 9070 or RTX 5070?

Do you think the RX 9070 or RTX 5070 is better value for money (both $549 MSRP)?
