“Excellent availability across all markets” AMD promises sufficient RX 9070 stock at launch

AMD is all set to release two new Radeon graphics cards – the RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT. These will be available to buy from retailers on March 6th (according to AMD’s latest announcement), and it looks like Team Red won’t be running into the same problem Nvidia has lately. To put things into perspective, Nvidia’s RTX 50 series has been struggling with stock issues, making the latest-gen cards almost impossible to find at a decent price, outside of Nvidia’s Priority Access program.
In stark contrast, AMD has promised that the RX 9070 series launch will be met by “really strong availability at launch” which is extremely promising news for anyone looking to upgrade their GPU right now. The cards will be launching with a solid list of GPU partners involved, though MSI didn’t make the cut.

AMD RX 9070 series GPUs should be easier to find than Nvidia’s 50 series
During AMD’s latest press briefing, Scott Olschewsky, Product Management Director at AMD, answered several questions about the card’s technology, performance, availability, and pricing.
When asked about whether AMD will be producing a reference card alongside partner cards, here’s what Olschewsky had to say.
“We’ve been working really closely with our AIB partners this generation to deliver high quality products right at launch day with excellent availability across all markets. We have not felt the need to deliver what we would call an MBA (Made By AMD) or an AMD-built reference design with this generation.”
Scott Olschewsky – Radeon Graphics, Product Management Director at AMD
Of course, we’ll take stock claims with a pinch of salt for now, as the GPU market over the last few years has been anything but reliable. One thing is for sure: if AMD can execute their claims of both performance and availability – while bringing the RX 9070 and 9070 XT to market at a price that competes with the competition – then this could be a huge win for AMD.
