Latest PlayStation Plus price changes explained for the US, UK, and Europe

Sony has been increasing prices across several of its gaming products recently, and now the company has announced another price hike, this time for PlayStation Plus. After recently raising the prices of the PS5 and PS5 Pro in several regions, Sony is now increasing the cost of the PS Plus Essential subscription for new members.
According to an official statement from PlayStation, the new prices will go live on May 20, 2026. Sony continues to blame “ongoing market conditions,” as it did with its hardware price adjustments (which makes more sense given RAM shortages). Either way, the changes will only affect select regions, though Sony did not provide a complete list of countries impacted.
New PS Plus pricing, starting from May 20
The new pricing for PS Plus Essential will start at $10.99 USD / €9.99 EUR / £7.99 GBP for the one-month subscription plan. Meanwhile, the three-month option will now cost $27.99 USD / €27.99 EUR / £21.99 GBP.

Compared to the previous pricing, the one-month plan has gone up by $1 in the United States, while the three-month plan now costs $3 more. Interestingly, Sony has not changed the pricing for the 12-month subscription option, at least for now.
The company also clarified that current subscribers will not be affected by the new pricing unless their subscription expires, changes, or lapses. However, there are exceptions for users in Turkey and India, where the new pricing rules will also impact existing members.
At the moment, the price increase only applies to the PS Plus Essential tier. Sony has not announced any changes for PS Plus Extra or PS Plus Premium subscriptions. Still, the higher-tier plans could also become more expensive later this year.
For those unfamiliar with the service, PS Plus Essential is required for online multiplayer access on PlayStation consoles. It also gives players access to monthly free games that remain playable as long as the subscription stays active. For now, existing subscribers who keep their memberships active can avoid the higher pricing. However, anyone planning to subscribe after May 20 will be met with the updated costs.
