Sony is once again increasing PlayStation 5 prices, including a massive $200 hike for the Pro model

Sony has officially announced new price increases for multiple PlayStation products, including the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, and PlayStation Portal. According to the company, the decision comes due to ongoing pressure in the global economy, and the updated prices will take effect starting April 2, 2026.
PlayStation price changes in the US, the UK, Europe, and Japan
In the United States, the standard PS5 will now cost $649.99, up from $549.99. The Digital Edition has increased to $599.99, while the PS5 Pro has seen the biggest jump, now priced at $899.99, up from $699.99. Similar price hikes have been applied across the UK, Europe, and Japan as well. Everything is summarized below:

These price hikes are not limited to Sony. The ongoing memory and component crisis has been affecting the entire tech industry. Rising costs of RAM, storage, and other key parts have forced many companies to either increase prices or delay products. Over the past few months, we’ve already seen multiple brands adjust pricing or even suspend certain devices due to these challenges.
It’s also worth noting that this isn’t the first time Sony has raised prices recently. Back in August last year, the company already increased the price of the PS5 lineup in the US by $50. Now, with another round of increases, the total jump is even more dramatic, especially for the PS5 Pro, which has gone up by $200 compared to its earlier price.
