Latest Steam Deck stable update finally fixes green eye issue in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle

A couple of months have passed since the launch of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. The game was well received by gamers and fans of the franchise alike, though there was plenty of discussion about its steep system requirements. For example, the game was struggling on GPUs with 8GB of VRAM, and it’s safe to say it runs terribly on Steam Deck.
If you’re going to play the latest Indiana Jones game on the Deck, we’d recommend using a streaming service like GeForce Now. Aside from the poor native performance on the handheld, a long-standing problem with the game is a rendering issue that specifically affected Steam Deck and Linux players – the infamous ‘green eye’ or ‘glowing eye’ bug.

Steam Deck update fixes Indiana Jones rendering issue and adds 8BitDo controller support
While this issue was initially fixed in a patch for the Beta and Preview channels in December last year, Valve has pushed a new Stable update for the Steam Deck. So, if you’re the kind of person who sticks to the Stable channel, this green eye issue has finally been fixed. SteamOS 3.6.21 is now available for download in the Steam Deck settings menu under the System tab.
SteamOS 3.6.21 has been released to the Stable channel for Deck with the following changes:
General
Source: Steam
- Fixed a rendering issue with characters’ eyes in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
- Added support for the 8BitDo Ultimate 2C Wireless Controller
- Fixed Linux kernel CVE-2024-50089
- Fixed mpg123 CVE-2024-10573
- Fixed libarchive CVE-2024-20696
Aside from the rendering issue, this update also brings support for the 8BitDo Ultimate 2C Wireless Controller to the Stable channel. Overall, it’s not a massive patch, but it’s nice to see Indy’s green eyes become a thing of the past; even if the game doesn’t run all that great on the Steam Deck.
