Handheld gamers are eagerly waiting for the Lenovo Legion Go 2 to hit the market ever since it was first revealed. The company showed off a prototype of the Legion Go 2 back at CES 2025. At that time, they said it would be available by the end of the year. But since then, Lenovo has remained quiet and hasn't shared any more details about when the handheld will launch. Now, thanks to a recent interaction on social media, we may finally have a better idea, with the month of September being targeted.

Lenovo’s representative suggests a possible September release date for Legion Go 2

On the Lenovo Latin America Facebook page, a fan who was interested in buying the Legion Go 2 asked when it would become available in Mexico. In response, a Lenovo representative replied that they hope the devices will arrive in their online store in September. They also told the fan to keep an eye on their social media pages for future updates. While the reply didn't mention a specific release date, the representative seemed pretty confident about the September release window.

It's important to note that while the fan specifically asked about Mexico, it's very possible that the Legion Go 2 will release globally around the same time.

As for what the Legion Go 2 will offer, Lenovo shared its specifications back in January. However, since these are based on a prototype, there is always a chance that the final version could have some changes. According to what has been shared so far, the Legion Go 2 will feature AMD's latest Zen 5 architecture, which comes with 16 graphics cores and RDNA 3.5 technology. This means the device will offer much better graphical performance compared to its predecessor. It is expected to feature one of AMD’s latest Ryzen Z2 processors, likely the same as the next MSI Claw with the Z2 Extreme, a move away from its previous Intel hardware.

The screen will also see a major change. Lenovo is planning to include a native landscape 16:10 OLED display with Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), which should make games look smoother and more vibrant; however, the resolution of the prototype was lower than the original model. On top of that, the handheld will offer a lot of storage capacity, and memory options will expand from 16GB to 32GB. The battery is getting a significant upgrade too, going from 49.2Whr to 74Whr, which is about a 50% increase. A very welcome change considering some existing owners are turning to battery upgrade mods to achieve this effect.

In any case, if Lenovo is actually planning to release the Legion Go 2 in September, we’ll most likely hear something official in the next couple of months, including the final specifications and price tag.
