Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is scheduled to fully release on October 23, but players who digitally pre-ordered or pre-purchased the game can already access its campaign thanks to the early access perk. And starting today, players interested in the new DMZ experience will be able to jump in early as well. Again, this is only available to those who pre-ordered a digital copy.

When does Modern Warfare 4 DMZ early access start today?

According to Activision, Modern Warfare 4 DMZ Early Access will go live globally at 10 AM Pacific Time on Tuesday, October 20 – the update will be available to download an hour prior. Since this is a simultaneous worldwide launch, the exact release time for you will depend on your region/time zone. Here are some of the major regional release times:

  • Los Angeles – 10 AM PDT
  • New York – 1 PM EDT
  • London – 6 PM BST
  • Berlin – 7 PM CEST
  • Mumbai – 10:30 PM IST
  • Tokyo – 2 AM JST (October 21)
  • Sydney – 4 AM AEDT (October 21)
  • Auckland – 6 AM NZDT (October 21)

We’ve also added a countdown clock below, tracking the exact second DMZ Early Access starts. Keep in mind that once the timer expires, it will disappear from this page (in other words, if you don’t see anything, then DMZ has already been released).

What is MW4 DMZ?

DMZ is Modern Warfare 4’s extraction shooter experience, where players enter the dangerous region of Hajin either alone or with a squad. Each deployment gives you different objectives and opportunities, but survival is just as important as completing them. You can collect weapons, equipment, and valuable resources before deciding whether to extract safely or stay longer for potentially better rewards. If you fail to escape, you risk losing what you collected.

Hajin is a large conflict zone featuring locations such as an irradiated reactor, a prison complex, Hajin City, and a heavily defended military base. Players can complete Story Missions, Dynamic Operations, Side Ops, hunt valuable targets, or simply explore.

DMZ also mixes PvE and PvP. You’ll encounter hostile factions alongside other Operators, and you can decide whether to fight, avoid, or even negotiate with other players. There’s also a Bounty system, which further improves the risk in PvP encounters.

There is also a dedicated progression system with persistent Operators, inventories, backpacks, and loadouts. By completing missions, players can earn Trait Points and unlock passive bonuses focused on areas such as combat, infiltration, looting, recovery, and resource gathering.
