PC players seem to be on board with Capcom’s recent Monster Hunter Wilds updates. Last month saw the company drop a Steam-exclusive PC performance patch that helped Steam reviews make a U-turn; at the time of writing this, recent reviews on Steam are now a distinctly ‘Mostly Positive’ blue. And now, another patch is available – Version 1.041.00.00 has been released for all platforms, introducing more GPU & CPU optimizations, as well as finer level-of-detail tuning.

Monster Hunter Wilds version 1.041.00.00 optimizations

  • Reduced CPU/GPU processing and made adjustments to lower the load on the game.
  • Added internal Levels of Detail (LOD) for 3D models, adjusting them to display optimal quality based on the situation to reduce GPU load.
  • Optimized monster and endemic life spawn-time processing to reduce CPU load.
  • Added effect caching to decrease CPU load when generating duplicate effects.
  • Optimized rendering processes to reduce CPU/GPU load.
  • Performed other minor adjustments to lower the overall load.

As seen above, more GPU and CPU optimizations are available to reduce the load during gameplay. This isn’t a PC-specific patch, either, as console players can benefit from the improvements too. Another change that Capcom had already promised in its early optimization roadmap is the addition of better level-of-detail (LOD) optimization, namely, adding LOD quality levels to 3D models. As seen in the patch notes above, this promise has been delivered.

The version 1.041 patch is as far as the roadmap goes for now, so it’s difficult to know when, what, or even if further optimizations will be made to the game. In any case, with even Steam Deck owners reporting that the game is playable on their device, it’s clear that MH Wilds has come a long way since launch, when we tested it on the handheld and ended up saying “don’t bother”.

PC players are recommended to update their GPU drivers “to ensure the most stable experience possible”. For Nvidia users, this is 581.57 or newer, and for AMD, 25.9.1 or newer. Capcom says some issues have been identified with AMD Radeon driver version 25.10.2 and higher for certain GPUs, including the RX 5500 XT and RX 7800 XT.
