Monster Hunter Wilds is getting a much-needed PC performance update today. The game was again in the spotlight a couple of weeks ago after players noticed something strange: better performance when you install more DLC. Not long after that discovery, Capcom confirmed the date for a Steam-only performance patch, and that day has finally arrived – today, January 27.

When will Monster Hunter Wilds’ PC performance patch release today?

According to Capcom, the patch will be released at 6 PM PST on January 27, which translates to 2 AM GMT on January 28. The exact time will depend on your region, but the rollout will happen worldwide. Capcom has also confirmed that online sessions will not be interrupted when the patch goes live, so players can continue playing without being forced to log out.

  • Los Angeles – 6 PM PST (January 27)
  • New York City – 9 PM EST (January 27)
  • London – 2 AM GMT (January 28)
  • Berlin – 3 AM CET (January 28)
  • Mumbai – 7:30 AM IST (January 28)
  • Tokyo – 11 AM JST (January 28)
  • Sydney – 1 PM AEDT (January 28)
  • Auckland – 3 PM NZDT (January 28)

We’ve also added a countdown clock above, so you can track the exact hours, minutes, and seconds left until the patch goes live.

The update is listed as Patch Ver. 1.040.03.01, and it focuses entirely on improving PC performance for Steam users. Capcom says the patch includes optimization changes for Steam-specific processes, with the goal of reducing overall system load and improving how the game uses hardware resources during gameplay.

One of the biggest changes is a rework of the game’s graphics presets. Capcom is adding new GPU and CPU settings, along with updated presets that give players more control over performance. These new options are meant to help players better adjust the game based on their system, especially those dealing with unstable frame rates or performance drops. As revealed in the patch notes, the performance issue surrounding the DLC check has been fixed – this is chalked up as “claimed content status checks”.

The patch also improves shader compilation, which has been a major cause of stuttering for many PC players. With these changes, loading new areas and effects should feel smoother. Capcom has also worked on reducing VRAM usage, which should help systems with lower graphics memory run the game more smoothly. In addition, the high-resolution texture pack is being improved to deliver better visuals with fewer performance issues.

Capcom has made it clear that this isn’t the final performance update. A larger Version 1.041 patch is planned for February 18, and that update will focus on improving stability and performance across all platforms, not just PC.
