Mouse: P.I. For Hire is a first-person shooter developed by Fumi Games and published by PlaySide Studios. Since its very first teasers a few years ago, the game has gained attention for its unique art style and fast-paced gameplay. And if you’ve been waiting to jump in, you’ll be glad to learn the wait will be over soon, as the game launches today (April 16).
One of the standout features of the game is its visual style. It uses black-and-white, hand-drawn animation inspired by 1930s cartoons. Everything, from characters to environments, follows a ‘rubber hose’ animation style, giving it a very distinct look compared to modern shooters – the devs say the game “features over 54,000 individual frames of animation, all drawn by hand”.

According to the developers, Mouse: P.I. For Hire launches on April 16 at 8 AM PT. Due to time zone differences, the exact release time will vary depending on where you live. What is Mouse P.I For Hire about?
In terms of gameplay, it is a fast-paced FPS where you take control of Jack Pepper, a detective dealing with a case that quickly turns into something much bigger. What starts as a missing persons case leads to a deeper story involving crime, corruption, and danger across the city of Mouseburg.
The combat focuses on constant action, with a wide range of weapons that all have a cartoon twist. Alongside standard gunplay, players can use abilities like wall-running and grappling to move around levels quickly. The game also features multiple locations to explore, including underground areas.
