Earlier this year, with the MSI Claw, the company ventured into the handheld gaming PC space. And it looks like it plans on expanding its range of offerings.
As per a new report, MSI has revealed its next handheld gaming PC model, which is the MSI Claw 8 AI+. This upcoming device will be powered by a new Intel Lunar Lake processor and seems to have made significant improvements over its predecessor.
MSI Claw 8 AI+ will have a better processor, bigger screen, and more battery life
According to the latest report by Lowyat, the upcoming MSI Claw 8 AI+ will sport an 8-inch FHD+ display with a 16:10 aspect ratio. This display is an inch bigger than the original Claw’s 7-inch screen. However, it should be noted that the new model will also offer the same 120Hz refresh rate with VRR support.
Further, the Claw 8 AI+ will feature a huge 80Whr battery, which is quite an upgrade considering that the MSI Claw has a 53Whr battery. The new 80Whr size puts it on par with the (relatively) recently launched ROG Ally X, with the battery being one of the upgrades that fans were most pleased about. Plus, the new model will also have an additional Thunderbolt 4 port.
The report couldn’t give too much information about the specs and the Intel processor being used. The only detail the report shared was that it was an upcoming Lunar Lake processor – the exact details are likely to be revealed in September. Further, the report also mentioned that MSI will share prices, availability, and other information next month.
Compared to the original MSI Claw, the upcoming 8 AI+ model does seem like a significant upgrade. While the initial reviews of the MSI Claw were underwhelming, it’s not a bad handheld, and it received updates eventually.
On the same note, the MSI Claw, the original handheld gaming PC that was launched earlier this year, is currently on sale. Buyers can save up to $230 with the Newegg deal, at the time of writing.
