New iOS bug might be the reason why you’re making typos on your iPhone

If you feel like you have been making more typing mistakes on your iPhone lately, you're not alone. This is because a new bug in iOS is causing frustration among iPhone users, as many are suddenly making far more typing mistakes than usual. At first, people thought they were just being careless, but reports now confirm that it's a software issue affecting Apple's keyboard.
On the iOS subreddit, one user complained about typing problems after updating to iOS 26, saying they were suddenly making “dumb typos” and noticed the spacebar sometimes doesn't register. They also said typing feels less accurate overall. Another user mentioned that the typing feels jerky or slow after they updated to iOS 26, especially when writing longer messages.
An iOS bug is causing typos – it might not be your fault
Michi, a user on X, recently brought attention to the problem, saying: “If you’re making more typos in iOS lately, you’re not going crazy – it’s a bug in iOS that causes the keyboard to randomly insert the wrong letter instead of what you typed.” They also shared a slow-mo video, which clearly shows that the keyboard is not registering the correct letters at times.
So far, it's clear that the issue isn't caused by autocorrect or user error, but rather a keyboard input bug in the latest iOS update. Some users also report that the keyboard sometimes lags or freezes for a moment, which leads to delayed or repeated letters. iOS 26 is available for the latest iPhone 17 series, the new iPhone Air, and all the way down to the iPhone 11 series and iPhone SE (2022 and 2020 models).
At the moment, Apple has not officially acknowledged the problem, and there is no official fix. However, based on past issues, it's likely that Apple will address it in a future iOS update once the bug receives more attention. Until then, users experiencing the problem can try a few temporary solutions like restarting their phone, turning off Predictive Text, resetting the keyboard dictionary, or switching to a third-party keyboard.
