Rumors about a new AMD X3D processor started going around back in October, and they left many PC gamers surprised. This is mainly because people believed AMD was already done with its Ryzen 9000X3D lineup. So, the news about another model, the Ryzen 7 9850X3D, came as a surprise to many. And now, it seems like retailers have started preparing for its launch.

Recently, a US-based retailer called SHI listed the Ryzen 7 9850X3D as a “backorder” item (spotted by @momomo_us on X). For those who do not know, backorder usually means the store expects to receive stock soon, even if it does not have any units available right now. The listed price on SHI is $553. For reference, Ryzen 7 9800X3D launched with a price tag of $479. If this new listing is close to the real launch price, the 9850X3D could cost around $70 more than its predecessor.

A Swiss retailer called Orderflow.ch has also listed the Ryzen 7 9850X3D. On that store, the price is 472.80 CHF, which converts to roughly $594. That price is even higher, but it is not uncommon for European prices to look more expensive due to taxes and regional costs.

That said, it is important to stay careful with early listings like these. This is because retailers sometimes use placeholder prices before a product is officially announced. These numbers can change at launch, and the final price could be lower or higher than what we are seeing now. Until AMD confirms everything, take everything with a pinch of salt.

In any case, CES 2026 is just around the corner, and AMD has a long history of using big events like CES to reveal new hardware. CPUs, GPUs, and major updates are often announced during these shows. Because of this, many expect AMD to officially reveal the Ryzen 7 9850X3D during CES 2026, or at least talk about it in more detail.

If the Ryzen 7 9850X3D does launch with a higher price, it will be interesting to see the demand for it. At the moment, it’s expected to offer the same number of cores and threads as the 9800X3D (9 and 16), as well as the same 96MB L3 cache and a 120W TDP. However, the boost clock will be a bit higher: 5.6 GHz.
