Sony has quietly preparing a new version of the PlayStation 5 Slim Digital Edition, with a small but important change. Earlier this month, a leak suggested that Sony was working on a new PS5 model, known as CFI-2100 (Chassis E). This model is said to be a revision of the CFI-2000 (Chassis D), which is the current PS5 Slim Digital Edition. The leak claimed that the update would bring minor adjustments, and now it looks like it was accurate.

The big change is storage. A new model (listed as CFI-2216) has been spotted with reduced storage capacity on various Amazon storefronts in Europe, including France, Germany, Italy, and Spain. These listings have confirmed that the PS5 Slim Digital Edition revision will ship with 825GB of storage – not the previous 1TB.

While this doesn’t change the console’s overall performance or its ability to run games, it does mean you’ll have less room for downloads, which can be a real drawback for players relying on a digital-only library. Since this version of the PS5 doesn’t use discs, storage space is even more important.

The interesting part is that the price has not changed. On Amazon Italy, the new model is listed for €499, which is the same as the original PS5 Slim Digital Edition. So while storage has been reduced, players will still be paying the same price as before. At the moment, the new console has not appeared on Amazon U.S., but we’ll let you know as soon as it happens.

When it comes to shipping, you shouldn’t expect to get your hands on it soon. Previous rumors pointed to a September 13 release date, but that has already passed. The French site lists October 9, but it seems to differ per region.
