Nvidia has delivered sweeping improvements to its GeForce Now cloud gaming platform in the past year. This includes a native app for the Steam Deck, worldwide upgrades to RTX 5080-class servers, and even the addition of 4K 120 FPS support on LG TVs. Keeping on the topic of TV software, Amazon Fire TV Stick users can now download a native version of the GFN app.

It was announced at CES 2026 last month that a native app would be coming to select Amazon Fire TV sticks, and that day has finally arrived. Support expands as part of Nvidia’s latest GeForce Now Thursday announcements, bringing the service to anyone with a compatible fire stick and controller to play with. It hasn’t been long since a native Linux app was launched, too.

GeForce Now for Amazon Fire TV sticks

Support for the new app is starting with three particular models – we don’t yet know when or if this will expand, but support currently covers the following devices, with up to 1080p and 60 FPS gameplay.

• Fire TV Stick 4K Plus (2nd Gen) with Fire OS 8.1.6.0 or later
• Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2nd Gen) with Fire OS 8.1.6.0 or later
• Fire TV Stick 4K Max (1st Gen) with Fire OS 7.7.1.1 or later

The new GeForce NOW app for Amazon Fire TV is now available, letting members stream even the most demanding PC games straight on the TV with just a Fire TV Stick and a controller. No console, or waiting to download games, just instant access to RTX‑powered performance that turns nearly any screen into a gaming machine. The Amazon Fire TV app joins GeForce NOW’s ever‑growing lineup of supported platforms, including Windows and Linux PCs, Macs, Chromebooks, gaming handhelds, smartphones, browsers, smart TVs, and more.

Interestingly, the app doesn’t seem to support Amazon Fire TVs directly, just the three models of sticks. This is possibly due to the fact that fire sticks generally offer faster processors and smoother performance than the built-in system available to Fire TV owners, which may not be up to speed with the capabilities of GeForce Now.

Along with the Fire TV app, there are a bunch of new games hitting the platform this week as part of Nvidia’s 6th year anniversary celebrations for GFN.
