In the past few months, several leaks and rumors have suggested that Nvidia is working on another budget card in the RTX 50-series: the RTX 5050. While the 40-series skipped a desktop version of the RTX 4050, Nvidia seems to have different plans this time. And according to the latest leak, the company might release the upcoming budget card sooner than expected.
Previously, it was believed that the RTX 5050 would launch sometime in July 2025. Although no exact date was confirmed, leaks indicated that budget-conscious builders could expect to get their hands on the card next month. Most rumors pointed to a late July release, but it now seems Nvidia might release on the first day of the month.

RTX 5050 might arrive on July 1st
According to leakers MEGAsizeGPU and hongxing2020 on X, the RTX 5050 is reportedly scheduled to launch on July 1st. Initially, the launch was expected at the end of July, but Nvidia has reportedly moved it up. If this turns out to be accurate, there's only about a week left before the budget card hits the market. We may also see an official announcement from Nvidia very soon.
Currently, since Nvidia hasn't officially confirmed the card's existence, we don't have any official specifications. However, based on multiple leaks, it doesn't seem like it will be a particularly strong budget card. Rumors suggest it will feature 8GB of GDDR6 memory paired with 2,560 CUDA cores – 1,280 fewer than the RTX 5060.
5050 laptops are now available in China
Interestingly, the RTX 5050 laptop GPUs, which launched today, offer variants with GDDR7 memory. This raises the possibility that the desktop version might also include GDDR7, though even with this faster memory, we’re not expecting it to become one of the best budget cards on the market.
Laptops featuring this budget GPU will be hitting the market soon. In fact, some models have already launched in China, including the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G6 Pro, which pairs the RTX 5050 with an Intel Core i7-14650HX. The laptop variant of the card also offers 2,560 CUDA cores, 30% less than the RTX 5060 laptop GPU, which comes with 3,328 cores. Aside from that, both cards have the same TGP and GDDR7 memory type.
