One of the biggest games of 2024 won’t feature DLSS 4 support on launch

Table of Contents
During NVIDIA’s keynote at this year’s CES tradeshow, Black Myth – one of the biggest releases of 2024 – was used to highlight the performance gains of the brand’s latest Frame Generation technology, DLSS 4. Sadly, despite being one of the “poster” games for the 50 Series launch, it will not be receiving DLSS 4 on launch.
That’s right, despite NVIDIA using Black Myth: Wukong in several of their marketing materials for the launch of its 50 series GPU range, it won’t be supporting the latest frame generation technology on day 0. Instead, NVIDIA has confirmed that DLSS 4 will be coming to Black Myth “later this year” – with no exact date as to when it may arrive.

Black Myth: Wukong will not support DLSS 4 on day 0
The full details of all DLSS 4 supported games and future projects were published on the NVIDIA website, preparing eager 50 Series buyers for what’s to come. In those notes, it features a full section on Black Myth: Wukong, saying that it will be upgraded to DLSS Multi Frame Generation later this year. It’s unclear as to why the game won’t be supported on launch, and NVIDIA doesn’t elude to the reason why. We can only speculate that it requires more complex input from developers – but that is yet to be confirmed.
It isn’t just Black Myth: Wukong that won’t be supported on launch either, Marvel Rivals, another hugely popular release from last year, won’t be supported either. Thankfully, users won’t have to wait too long for its arrival, as NVIDIA stated: “In a February update, Marvel Rivals will upgrade to DLSS Multi Frame Generation, further accelerating frame rates in its highly detailed, Unreal Engine 5-powered arenas.”.
The Witcher won’t feature DLSS 4 support right away
Another noteworthy game that doesn’t feature in any DLSS 4 list right now is The Witcher. Unlike both Black Myth: Wukong and Marvel Rivals, there are no documented references of The Witcher featuring DLSS 4 anytime soon.
Of course, with the technology being a huge part of the brand’s 50 Series launch, you’d expect the most popular games to feature it. I suppose we’ll have to wait and see whether the technology is implemented over the next 12 months.
