Handhelds come in different shapes and sizes. Some provide a comfortable ‘on-the-go’ gaming experience, while others are not worth spending any money on. As for the ASUS ROG Ally, it is currently one of the best gaming handhelds out there, offering solid specifications. And if you’ve been toying with the idea of getting one for yourself, you’ll be pleased to know that it is currently available with a big discount at Best Buy.

This discount comes as CES 2025 is taking place, which has seen the reveal of several new handhelds including the Lenovo Legion Go S (with a SteamOS version arriving in May) as well as the Acer Blaze 11, though nothing quite as cheap as the ROG Ally now thanks to the price slash.

ASUS ROG Ally – 512GB

ROG Ally 7″ 120Hz FHD 1080p Gaming Handheld – AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme Processor – 512GB – White

ROG Ally gets a big discount on Best Buy

The ASUS ROG Ally with Z1 Extreme processor was previously listed for $649.99 on Best Buy. However, right now, it is available for only $499.99. This means that thanks to the offer, you can save $150 on it. You can either use the money you saved to grab some additional accessories for the ROG Ally to improve your handheld experience or just put it back in your wallet. Also, the discount has brought it down to the price of the simple Z1 processor model, which makes it an even more compelling option.

What does it offer?

To begin with, the ASUS ROG Ally offers the Z1 Extreme processor, featuring 8 cores, 16 threads, and a boost clock speed of 5.10 GHz. Although AMD announced new Z2 series processors at CES 2025 a few days ago which promise to improve the battery life on the ROG Ally and Legion Go, the Z1 Extreme is still capable of handling resource-hungry tasks with ease. Aside from that, the handheld offers a 7-inch IPS display with a 1080p resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate, which should deliver smooth and clear visuals – especially thanks to Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) support. For storage and RAM, you’ll get a 512GB SSD and 16GB of LPDDR5 memory.

When it comes to the battery, the ROG Ally features a 40WHrs 4-cell Li-ion. According to users on Reddit, the battery lasts between two to four hours, depending on the settings and game being played. The handheld also weighs only 608g, making it highly portable and easy to carry around. In any case, it isn’t every day we get to see discounts as big as $150, so make sure to buy it before the offer disappears.
