RTX 5080 release date, pre order & where to buy
Table of Contents
The RTX 5080 release date is here and we expect stock of this powerful new GPU to run out quickly, so we’re here to help you find the specific model you need as quickly as possible once orders go live on the 30th Jan. There were concerns about how this card would perform with DLSS disabled given Nvidia’s focus on AI uplift in their promotional marketing; now we’ve had a chance to review the RTX 5080 we know that its performance is around 10-15% over the previous gen before DLSS 4 is enabled, and around double the performance with it enabled. Although the former figure might not sound that impressive at first, when you consider that the 5080 has the same MSRP as the RTX 4080 when it released, it’s pretty solid, not to mention that enormous improvement with DLSS 4.

RTX 5080 release date

Nvidia RTX 5080 pre order explained & price info
Pre orders for the RTX 5080 in the traditional sense, that is where you can buy the graphics card and secure your order before the official release/delivery date (when you can actually get one and take it home), are unfortunately not going to be a reality. There are things that retailers are referring to as ‘RTX 5080 pre orders’ which are basically just a way of helping you secure one of these cards as soon as they release. For instance, Overclockers UK has confirmed that ‘pre-orders’ will go live on January 30, with various AIB models already listed on their site – this is basically where you can sign-up to alerts telling you when the GPU is in stock on the day. Similarly, other retailers like Best Buy are offering email or app-based notifications rather than direct pre-order options. If you’re looking to buy the Founders Edition model, you can check the Nvidia website, where you can sign up for alerts once it becomes available.
In terms of pricing, Nvidia has officially set the MSRP for the RTX 5080 Founders Edition at $999 / £979, as announced during their CES keynote. However, models from third-party manufacturers like ASUS, Gigabyte, and MSI will come with custom cooling solutions and factory overclocking, leading to higher prices. Expect premium AIB versions to cost several hundred dollars more than the base model.
