Rockstar has had “unlimited” resources to create GTA 6, says Take-Two CEO, so it can “deliver perfection”

Grand Theft Auto 6 is easily the most hyped game of the year, and probably one of the most anticipated games ever made. Fans have been waiting over a decade for Rockstar Games to finally release the next entry in the series, and based on what Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has now shared, the company is doing everything it possibly can to make sure the game delivers.
Speaking in a recent interview with Bloomberg, Zelnick explained that Take-Two is giving Rockstar practically everything it needs to create GTA 6. According to the CEO, the company aims to deliver an experience players have never seen before, and in turn, Rockstar has received massive levels of support throughout development.
GTA 6 will probably be the most expensive piece of entertainment ever
Zelnick said development costs for modern games have continued to rise, especially for projects aiming for the highest level of quality. He admitted that GTA 6 is an extremely expensive project, but also made it clear that Take-Two fully supports Rockstar’s vision. He explained that the company tries to provide its studios with unlimited financial, creative, and human resources so developers can focus entirely on making the best possible game. Rockstar’s goal, according to him, is perfection.

We have the most amazing creative teams. We not only encourage them to pursue their passions, we insist that they do it. We try to give them unlimited financial, creative human resources and then they aim to deliver perfection.

While he obviously does not mean “unlimited” literally, his comments once again show just how massive GTA 6 really is behind the scenes. Reports over the past few years have already suggested that GTA 6 could become the most expensive game ever made, with some estimates placing its budget far above even major Hollywood productions. Ballpark figures suggest Take-Two has spent an estimated $1 billion to $1.5 billion so far.
What makes Rockstar different from most studios is that it is allowed to take its time. Many developers are forced to cut features, reduce scope, or rush projects when the budget starts getting tight. Rockstar, on the other hand, appears to have far more flexibility. If the team needs more time or more resources, Take-Two seems willing to support that decision.
This is also why expectations for GTA 6 are so high. After the success of GTA 5, which became one of the best-selling entertainment products of all time, fans are expecting Rockstar to completely raise the bar again with the next game. The game is set to launch on November 19, 2026, on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. The PC version will arrive at a later date.
