The ongoing memory shortage continues to impact the graphics card market, and it has now led to major price increases for Nvidia and AMD GPUs in China. Several board partners have officially raised prices across their product lineups, with some models now selling for well over 50% above their suggested retail prices.

According to pricing lists from MSI and Colorful (thanks Wccftech), nearly the entire RTX 50-series lineup has become more expensive. MSI’s updated price sheet shows that many of its cards have increased by around 10% to 20% compared to just a week ago. However, those earlier prices were already above MSRP, making the current situation even more severe.

Graphics cards with 16GB or more VRAM are the worst affected

Some of the biggest jumps can be seen on higher-end models. MSI’s RTX 5080 Shadow 3X OC, for example, has gone from ¥9,999 to ¥11,999, a 20% increase in just one week. Meanwhile, the RTX 5070 Ti Gaming Trio OC is now priced roughly 76% above its official MSRP, while the RTX 5090 D V2 sits more than 57% above its suggested retail price.

Colorful’s latest pricing paints a similar picture. Its flagship RTX 5080 Vulcan W OC is now listed nearly 60% above MSRP, while the RTX 5070 Ti Vulcan W OC is almost 59% above the recommended price. Even cheaper, more mainstream models like the RTX 5070, RTX 5060 Ti, and RTX 5060 have received significant price hikes.

AMD Radeon and Intel Arc graphics cards are also affected

While Nvidia cards have seen the biggest increases, AMD and Intel GPUs have not escaped the trend. Reports indicate that AMD graphics cards are now selling between 14% and 29% above MSRP in China, with the Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB seeing one of the largest increases. Intel’s Arc GPUs have also become more expensive, with some models reportedly rising by the equivalent of $200 to nearly $300.

The main reason behind these hikes is the ongoing surge in GDDR6 and GDDR7 memory prices, which have increased by around $20 each over the past year. Since modern graphics cards use multiple memory chips, manufacturers are facing much higher production costs before accounting for other components such as PCBs, cooling systems, and packaging. For now, these price hikes are limited to China, but there are concerns they could spread to other regions if the memory shortage continues.
