Official AMD channels announced the RX 9070 and 9070 XT release would land in early March, 2025, but never gave a specific release date, however a rumor is circulating that claims to reveal what this date is.
Uniko’s Hardware has a tip from an anonymous source, who they say is reliable, the both GPUs will be released on the 6th March, 2025. You can read about it yourself here; the page is written in Chinese FYI but Google translate will help you out. Obviously we can’t say for sure whether this is accurate yet but it certainly seems feasible.

How credible is this rumored RX 9070 and 9070 XT release date?
If we look at the proposed March 6th release date in the context of the other rumors, we’ve previously heard that AMD might hold their launch event on February 27th, 2025, which would put it exactly one week before March 6th. One week gap between the grand unveiling and the date the card actually hits the shelves sounds very plausible, with gives the date of the 6th some credence.
Ultimately, even if March 6th isn’t the right date, the most it’s going to be out is a week or less either side – AMD aren’t going to release a card on the weekend, which leaves March 3rd-7th or 10th-14th as the only possible dates that fall into ‘early March’, and even then it’s a bit of a stretch once you get past the 10th to call it ‘early’ in the month any more.
What’s the likely availability going to be for the RX 9070 and 9070 XT?
Whilst there was much gnashing of teeth and chagrin about the decision of AMD to push back the release of their GPUs until March, with the expectation that nobody would want to buy them after they’d all picked up the new Nvidia 50-series GPUs, given the massive stock shortages of the RTX 5080 and 5090 on launch meaning barely anyone got one, this could actually work out alright for the Red Team after all (depending on what happens over the next few weeks).
Given the likelihood that AMD originally planned to launch the new cards on January 23rd but pushed the release back (based on how early reviewers received them), we have to assume that after more than a month has past that there will have been a decent build-up of sellable stock. If the card performs well in benchmarks, they may be able to shift some units after all at the expense of the green team’s sales.
