The Samsung S95D was easily seen as one of the best OLED TVs from last year. It wasn’t just a great TV in its own right but also helped address a persistent issue with Samsung’s OLED TVs: screen reflections from external light sources overpowering their relatively dim fullscreen brightness levels. The company tackled this problem by introducing a new OLED Glare-Free screen in the S95D. However, despite these advancements, the TV still suffered from elevated black levels when viewed in bright rooms.

To address this issue, Samsung has developed a second generation of its Glare-Free technology, reportedly called Glare-Free 2.0, which will feature in its flagship 2025 OLED, the Samsung S95F. Unlike its predecessor, this technology is said to focus more on resolving the black-level issue identified in last year’s flagship Samsung OLED TV.

How does Glare Free 2.0 work?

The company is showcasing its latest Glare-Free 2.0 technology at CES 2025, set to debut with the Samsung S95F. According to Samsung, the technology addresses the black-level issue by “enhancing black expression” while also rejecting glare. Photos of the Samsung S95F from CES 2025, attached below, clearly show deeper and more realistic black tones, along with the elimination of distracting reflections.

Additionally, Samsung has announced that Glare-Free 2.0 will no longer be exclusive to its flagship OLED models. It will also be featured in its upcoming flagship 8K and 4K mini-LED TVs for 2025, the Samsung QN990F and QN90F. This means that for those considering a TV upgrade in 2025, watching movies or gaming can be done without concerns about screen reflections or diminished contrast and shadow detail in both bright and dark settings.

With competition from industry-leading brands like LG, Samsung is striving to set new benchmarks in the market with unique features that help it stand out. While real-world performance tests of Glare-Free 2.0 are still pending, it is shaping up to be a standout feature—at least on paper for now.
