Slay the Spire 2 was first announced back in April 2024. At the time, the developers said the game would enter Early Access sometime in 2025. However, those plans eventually transformed and delayed the launch as the team decided to take more time to polish the game before release (it’s still heading into early access).

Now, after that extra development time, the wait is finally over, as Slay the Spire 2 is officially entering Early Access today, on March 5. We expect the sequel to the massively popular deckbuilding roguelike to enjoy just as much fanfare, and it will easily run on low-end systems to boot – this includes the Steam Deck, according to the devs.

When does Slay the Spire 2 launch today on PC?

According to Mega Crit Games, Slay the Spire 2 will release on March 5 at 10 AM PST on PC. However, since the launch time varies by region due to time zone differences, we’ve put together a list of conversions to help you out. Note that some regions will be getting it in the early hours of March 6 instead.

  • Los Angeles – 10 AM PST (March 5)
  • New York City – 1 PM EST (March 5)
  • London – 6 PM GMT (March 5)
  • Berlin – 7 PM CET (March 5)
  • Mumbai – 11:30 PM IST (March 5)
  • Tokyo – 3 AM JST (March 6)
  • Sydney – 5 AM AEDT (March 6)
  • Auckland – 7 AM NZDT (March 6)

Our countdown clock above will remain in place until it expires – then it will disappear. In other words, if you don’t see the timer, that means Slay the Spire 2 has already been launched. Another big game release happening today is Bungie’s new shooter, so be sure to check out the Marathon release time too.

What is the game about?

The new game builds on the same roguelike deckbuilding formula that made the original so popular. Players once again climb the mysterious Spire, a massive structure filled with enemies, strange events, and powerful rewards. According to the developers, the Spire has awakened after lying dormant for centuries, and it is now more dangerous than ever.

Each climb through the Spire is different. The game features a large set of new cards, relics, and potions that players can collect during their run. These items can drastically change how your deck works, allowing you to experiment with different strategies every time you play.

One of the biggest additions in Slay the Spire 2 is co-op multiplayer. Players can climb the Spire alone, like in the original game, or they can team up with up to four players. Multiplayer runs also introduce special cards and team-based mechanics that allow players to combine strategies and support each other during battles.

The sequel also introduces five playable characters. Some of them return from the first game, while two are completely new. Each character comes with their own set of cards, abilities, and playstyle, giving players multiple ways to approach the climb.
