Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl has only been out for a couple of days, but the dedicated modding community has been busy modifying the game (mostly in helpful ways) to improve the overall experience, especially on PC. We’ve already featured creations such as the Optimizer mod which can help mitigate the stuttering problem many players are experiencing.
Ever since those first mods were uploaded online, the amount of custom tweaks, balancing, and performance optimizations have been blowing up. We all know by now that the performance is one of Stalker 2’s flaws – it has even been called a CPU killer, so many of these mods act like a fan-made effort to ‘fix the game’ as much as possible.

Nexus Mods is the best place to find Stalker 2 mods
At the time of writing on Nexus Mods, there are already 61 new mods and counting available for the game. Don’t expect anything massive so far – the game only launched on the 20th. Even still, it’s nice to see a community effort helping out. A roadmap will be coming in December according to the devs, and hotfixes are a high priority right now.
Some of our favorites so far
There are a bunch of mods worth checking out – even this early into the Stalker 2’s lifespan. We think focusing on performance is probably your best bet right now, but there are also plenty of balance tweaks available as well. For example, many people are complaining about how tanky some enemies are, but that’s nothing a simple mod can’t fix.
- Stalker Optimizer
- Grok’s less tanky bloodsuckers and poltergeists
- Grok’s Balanced Difficulties
- Equalized Aim Sensitivity X-Y

- No weapon (and optionally outfits) durability loss
- Disable TAA (or use FXAA) – Chromatic Aberration – Film Grain – Depth of Field – Vignetting – Bloom
