We think it’s safe to say that the Steam Deck is the current most popular gaming PC handheld right now, even though we think contenders like the ROG Ally or Legion Go put up a good fight. Valve’s ongoing support for the Deck is one of its greatest benefits, and something we can include under that support ‘umbrella’ is the Steam Deck Top Played charts.
Early this week we saw Vampire Survivors become the most played game on Steam Deck, right after a discount and the new DLC dropped. It’s popular for good reason: it’s affordable, runs easily on the Deck, takes up very little space, and most importantly, has that addictive quality with plenty to experience thanks to its roguelike design. But what if we told you there’s a game just like it, but it’s a first person shooter?
Vampire Hunters is like an FPS version of Vampire Survivors
Launching just over a week ago (after leaving a long period of early access), we think that Vampire Hunters is worth a shot if you’re looking for a new Steam Deck game to play with similar themes to Vampire Survivors. Obviously the name alone makes it easy to make a connection between the two. However, while Survivors is a top-down retro bullet hell, Hunters adapts that to a first person view with just as much chaos to enjoy.
Another similarities include the low price tag – Vampire Hunters will set you back $14.99 at full price, but it is currently enjoying a 25% discount that drops it down to just $11.24 until November 13th. Both games are fully Verified on the Steam Deck. According to its SteamDB page, Hunters peaked at just over 1.2K players, so we think it deserves more attention and could be the next game you play on your Steam Deck. Here are some of the game’s key features:
- Up to 14 guns at once for a ridiculous amount of firepower
- Plenty of upgrade paths with unique playstyles as part of the Roguelite gameplay
- Lightweight tone with blocky, steampunk visuals
- Unique abilities depending on the character (Hunter) you choose, with different skill trees
- Toggle between automatic and manual firing modes to make playing an FPS on the Deck less of a chore
