You may already be familiar with Valve’s Steam Deck compatibility ratings, found on the right-hand side of any Steam store page. Well, sure enough, that little rating badge is still in its rightful place, but Valve has snuck in a couple of additional ratings under the hood. In addition to the Steam Deck, the ‘Learn More’ button now shows ratings for the Steam Machine and SteamOS.

These ratings are a little bit hidden right now, so we imagine Valve will make them stand out more in the future. Either way, Steam Machine Verified requirements have already been explained – a good rule of thumb is: anything the Steam Deck can run will run easily on the Steam Machine. Valve requires a minimum of 30 FPS at 1080p on the cubed mini PC.

Steam Machine and SteamOS Compatibility now visible to all

Eagle-eyed Steam customers spotted the new ratings earlier today, so it seems like they appeared overnight without any big announcement from Valve. Not that the company really needed to say anything. Like the Steam Deck, the system lists a few requirements such as Steam controller icons and suitable performance on default graphics settings.

A couple of weeks have passed since the Steam Machine launched last month, so it’s nice to see these ratings finally arrive.

The SteamOS Compatibility tab does a similar job, which is useful if you’re looking to switch to the Linux-based operating system following its full release. According to an official blog post from last year, this tab was previously visible only to SteamOS users – now you can see it on a Windows machine.

Now we’re just waiting for Steam Frame compatibility results to appear on the store, which we imagine will arrive shortly after the VR headset is released this summer. Valve has yet to set an exact date, but everything points towards an imminent launch. Portal 2 was the first game to be rated for the Steam Frame (as per SteamDB data), but this is not yet reflected on its official store page.
