Steam’s Winter Sale isn’t here yet, but Epic Games and GOG have already kicked off theirs, including some free DLC
Table of Contents
Video games can be expensive, which is why many people wait for sales events to grab whatever they want at discounted prices. Thankfully, Steam hosts different sales events throughout the year, which offer discounts on hundreds of titles. Most recently, we saw the conclusion of the Autumn Sale, but that didn’t stop some games from staying dirt cheap.
Next up on the calendar is the Steam Winter Sale which is due to kick off on December 19th. If you can’t wait for it to arrive, maybe you should consider checking out Epic Games and GOG, as the pair of them have already launched their Winter sales events – the perfect opportunity to buy if you’re open to purchasing from platforms outside of Steam.
Best games to get during the Winter sales
Both stores are currently offering discounts on a big collection of titles. The discounts vary for each game, with some being only 5% off, while others are discounted by as much as 90%. On top of that, we’re also seeing some discounts on new releases and Epic Games is giving away a bunch of add-on (DLC) packs for free.

Should you wait for the Steam Winter Sale instead?
While the discounts during the Epic Games and GOG Winter Sales are worth checking out, we recommend waiting a few days for the Steam Winter Sale to go live. That way, you can compare and contrast which platforms are offering the better deals.
It’s possible that Steam may end up offering better discounts – and it certainly has a bigger collection of games. So, if you're looking to expand your library, we think it’s better to wait. You can also always check out bundle deals from the likes of Humble Bundle and Fanatical if you want to save big this Holiday season.
