Rumors of a Macbook Pro supporting a new Apple M4 chip being in formal development have been in circulation for a while now. However, there’s never been any certainty on when consumers would see it. However, with a new roadmap leaked, it’s possible that Apple fans could see this M4 Macbook Pro as early as Q1 of 2025.

The leak comes from the market analytics firm Canalys, which debuted a roadmap for AI-capable processors. This roadmap includes the Apple M4, the latest Apple Silicon. The roadmap shows that the M4 chip could be coming as early as the first quarter of 2025. This isn’t the only processor set for release, as Intel, AMD, and Qualcomm all also have chips reportedly on the way. These will bring some competition for the M4.

The Apple M4 chip is on its way, but it faces fierce competition

Particularly, Qualcomm is rumored to be working on a new Snapdragon X Elite chip. This will be a less powerful variant than the Snapdragon X Elite. The Snapdragon X Elite is major competition for Apple, as the 12-core chip is faster in multi-core performance than the M3. With a new, more budget-friendly 8-core version on the way, it could be a fierce battle.

Not only are the Snapdragon X Elite and M4 chips supposedly coming out around the same time, but Intel and AMD are also working on chips that are scheduled to release around this time. These chips will all be AI-powered, putting them in direct competition with each other. Only time will tell which chip becomes the favorite of enthusiasts.

There’s no telling right now which chip will be the best option. With so many AI chips scheduled to come out at once, it will be tough competition for Apple. The Apple Silicon line has been received incredibly well, but things could change. This is especially true with the Snapdragon X Elite outperforming the M3. There’s no telling what the future has in store for Qualcomm and Apple’s battle.
