The Legend of California alpha playtest start time, countdown clock, and how to sign up

The Legend of California is an upcoming open-world, action-survival shooter set during the Gold Rush era. It’s being developed by Kintsugiyama, a new development team headed by Jeff Kaplan, the famed game designer who you may remember as the vice president of Blizzard, as well as the lead director of Overwatch (he led dev streams for the game between 2017 and 2019).
No matter if you’re hearing about the game for the first time, have been waiting to try it out, or just get even more of a glimpse of the gameplay, we have some good news. A limited-time alpha playtest for the game is kicking off today, giving players an early look at what the developers have been working on.
When will The Legend of California playtest start today?
While there’s still no official release date for the full game, developer Kintsugiyama is using this playtest to showcase the core gameplay and gather feedback. The test will begin today at 10 AM PST and will remain live until March 30 at 10 AM PT. Keep in mind that the exact start time will vary depending on your region due to time zone differences. How to sign up for The Legend of California playtest
If you’re interested in joining the playtest, the process is simple. All you need to do is head over to the game’s page on Steam, find the Playtest section just under the trailer/images, and click on “Request Access.” If you’re selected, you’ll receive an email confirming your invitation. However, this is a smaller-scale test, so access is limited, and your place is not guaranteed.
The Legend of California is set within a fictional version of California during the Gold Rush. Players can explore a large open world filled with different biomes, landmarks, and dangers. The game focuses on survival mechanics like gathering resources, crafting tools, and building structures such as ranches and mines. Combat is skill-based, whether you’re hunting animals, fighting enemies, or engaging in optional PvP. You can also either play solo or team up with up to three other players.
