The number of handheld gaming devices on the market has exploded since the launch of the Steam Deck. These range from pocket-sized retro emulation devices to fully-fledged portable gaming PCs. The Abxylute One Pro slots somewhere in the middle, and is trying to attract funding with a launch of Kickstarter.

Abxylute has previously produced another Android handheld, simply called the Abxylute One. The One Pro is an improved and updated version that has been designed to handle Android games as well as many common retro emulators such as AtherSX2, Dolphin, Drastic, and PPSSPP. The capability of handling streaming game services such as Geforce Now and remote play has also been upgraded.

Abxylute One Pro Kickstarter is about to be launched

The Kickstarter campaign was announced on the company's Discord server and is expected to launch on March 27, 2025, at 8 am PST. The MSRP of the One Pro has been set at $249, but a special early bird price of $199 will be available for a limited time. Customers who have previously purchased the original Abxylute One will have unlimited access to this special cheaper price.

Preliminary specifications were posted on the Abxylute Discord server. While these are not confirmed, the One Pro is believed to use an MT8370 CPU, 4GB of LPDD4 RAM, and 64GB of ROM storage. The display is a 7-inch touchscreen with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 and a refresh rate of 60 Hz.

Curiously, Abxylute claims that the One Plus uses full-sized, capacitive digital joysticks that provide high precision without the ‘electromagnetic interference' caused by Hall Effect sensors. This is a bold claim, considering how many other portable devices are switching to Hall Effect analog sticks.

The handheld also comes equipped with dual speakers, two microphones, a Wi-Fi module, gyroscope, headphone jack, and unspecified ‘video output support.' The Kickstarter page is up and users can be notified of the official launch.
