Impressive VR mod for Oblivion Remastered already has its first major update
Table of Contents
Despite Bethesda forgetting about official mod support for Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, the PC modding community didn't waste any time. Within hours of the game's release, popular modding sites like NexusMods were already flooded with hundreds of mods, a number that has now surpassed 400. But one mod, in particular, has been drawing attention, and it’s all about virtual reality.
YouTube channel LunchAndVR gave us our first look at the Oblivion Remastered VR mod, complete with motion controls. The mod uses a tool called UEVR, which converts Unreal Engine games into VR experiences, and since Oblivion Remastered was built on UE5, the tool works seamlessly. The description of the YouTube video notes that these are early test builds, meaning more issues and fixes are expected as development progresses. And it looks like the first major update has already arrived.

Profiles are said to arrive soon
According to LunchAndVR’s new update video, the creator has now tested Oblivion Remastered VR with melee swings, dual wielding, bow and arrow, magic, and horse riding, and our first impression is that the VR kinks are slowly starting to be ironed out.
You can check out the update video to get an idea of how things are coming along. While it’s not fully finalized yet, VR users can jump into Oblivion Remastered VR today by downloading Praydog’s UEVR mod, though it's better to wait for a proper profile to become available. LunchAndVR notes that it will work with the version available on Steam, as well as the version available through Xbox's PC Game Pass.
That said, we're still waiting to see how Oblivion Remastered VR runs on a bunch of systems, especially since LunchAndVR notes that despite having a GeForce RTX 4090 with graphical settings set to Medium and DLSS set to Performance, the game runs very well indoors but experiences performance dips when outdoors. Judging by the way Intel’s best GPU couldn’t keep up, this might raise some concerns for those with older or less powerful hardware.
