Baldur’s Gate 3 was one of the biggest games to release last year, and while its popularity has dried up a little bit since then, it isn’t struggling for players by any means. In fact, the game is also flourishing on Steam Deck according to official charts. Anyway, despite having plenty of content of its own, the modding community is a good way of extending the lifespan of a game when you’ve exhausted just about everything else – or if you just fancy something unique.

The Baldur’s Gate 3 Darts mod is one good example and was recently released as part of the ongoing BG3 July Modathon over on Nexus Mods. Larian Studios originally cut the darts weapon from the game and this mod restores (and overhauls) them.

Baldur’s Gate 3 mod brings back Darts, which were cut from the game

This mod is pretty straightforward overall and adds some content back to where it belongs, especially for fans who were disappointed to see darts cut from the official release. In addition to bringing back this weapon, mod creator Aetherpoint, in collaboration with Lumaterian, notes that they’ve also added a +1 Returning Dart called D’Artagan to the game.

In terms of gameplay, the standard dart weapon is classed as a “simple melee weapon with the light, finesse, and throwing properties” with access to weapon actions Flourish and Piercing Strike. The available upgrades are listed as follows:

  • Dart +1 – Weapon Enchantment +1
  • Dart +2 – Weapon Enchantment +2
  • D’Artagnan – Has a homing property and will return directly to its user’s hand when thrown

Along with the mod, there is also an optional file ‘Darts – 1d6 Damage’ which increases dart damage to 1d6, up from 1d4.

How do I install the Baldur’s Gate 3 Darts mod?

Well, we’ve already shown you the Nexus Mods page for this particular mod, and you’ll find out how to install it over there. The easiest way to do this is by using the Baldur’s Gate 3 Mod Manager – many games with a modding community feature some kind of manager and we’d always recommend using one to make your life simpler.

  • (Optional) Install Item Shipment Framework. It should be placed at the bottom of your load order.
  • Import this mod’s .zip file into the Baldur’s Gate 3 Mod Manager, then drag the mod from the right panel of the Mod Manager to the left panel.
  • Save and export your load order.
