Valve quick to fix “the most broken CS2 update” with overpowered FAMAS after Animgraph 2 leaves beta
Table of Contents
The much-praised Animgraph 2 update for Counter-Strike 2 has finally left beta. Animgraph 2 arrives as an overhaul to improve third-person animations in line with player feedback, while also improving performance by reducing the cost of CPU and networking workloads related to animation. In other words, better animations and better performance for everyone.
However, with the changes moving from beta to the live client, a couple of game-breaking bugs came along to ruin the day – or make it in some cases. For the latter, weapons with burst-fire modes got an unintentional buff, notably making the FAMAS (a Counter-Terrorist weapon) one of the best guns in the game, as it could essentially fire three bullets at once with no penalty.

Game-breaking bugs were addressed shortly after the update
The unpatched FAMAS didn’t last long before Valve fixed the burst-fire bug, returning it to its normal power level. Of course, not before players could get a few clips in and show just how broken it really was. The fun lasted for a few hours before being patched up. Popular Counter-Strike content creator WarOwl called it “the most broken CS2 update I’ve ever seen”.

Soon after the Animgraph 2 update, players were also complaining about Counter-Strike 2 crashing at launch. Players have already been posting workarounds for the issue, but Valve developer John McDonald (who goes by u/vMcJohn on Reddit) now says that an optional update has been shipped to address the crash-on-startup issue. It’s worth noting that the original Animgraph 21 update also shipped with a fix for a halftime crashing issue, so this seems to be a recurring issue.
