Witcher 3 reaches 65M copies sold after new DLC announced

More than a decade after its original release, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt continues to prove why it is considered one of the greatest RPGs ever made. Following the recent announcement of a brand-new expansion called Songs of the Past, CD Projekt Red has revealed that the game has now surpassed an incredible 65 million copies sold worldwide.
The milestone comes at a perfect time for the studio. While many fans were surprised to learn that Geralt would be returning for another adventure over 10 years after the game’s launch, the sales figures help explain why CD Projekt Red decided to revisit one of its most successful titles. With a player base this large, there is clearly still plenty of interest in exploring the world of The Witcher before The Witcher 4 arrives.
The new sales update shows just how strong the game’s momentum remains. Back in 2023, CD Projekt Red confirmed that The Witcher 3 had crossed 50 million copies sold. Since then, the RPG has added another 15 million sales in only a few years. Even more impressive, reports suggest that around five million copies were sold in just the past few months alone.

CD Projekt Red has spent years supporting the game with updates, graphical improvements, next-generation enhancements, mod support, and platform expansions. The Complete Edition also became available through subscription services earlier this year, helping introduce the game to even more players.
The announcement of Songs of the Past has likely added even more excitement around the franchise. The expansion is set to bring Geralt back for another major story adventure, giving longtime fans one more chance to step into the boots of the White Wolf before the series shifts its focus to Ciri in The Witcher 4.
