News and rumors about the PS VR2 have been just around the corner amidst every tech-related blog. Sony has finally come out to put an end to the rumors and give fans a price and release date.
According to Sony’s official announcement, the PS VR2 will cost $549.99 and will be officially launched on February 22, 2023. This price Includes the PS VR2 headset, PS VR2 Sense controllers, and stereo headphones. The PlayStation VR2 Sense controller charging station will be sold separately for $49.99.
Sony is also offering a special Horizon Call of the Mountain bundle that will include a PlayStation Store voucher code for the Horizon VR experience, a PS VR2 headset, PS VR2 Sense controllers, and stereo headphones for $599.99.
In Sony’s blog post, the firm states that pre-orders will begin on November 15 and consumers can start registering from now on for any additional pre-order updates. Due to Sony’s outreach, they will sell directly from the PlayStation’s online store at direct.playstation.com for these countries: US, UK, France, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, and Luxembourg.
In other regions, you can still sign in for pre-orders on November 15, but the “PlayStation VR2 will be sold at participating retailers” for the same suggested price.

As always the price reveal of the new PS VR2 was shocking for most. Before Sony’s official announcement, the public was expecting lower prices around $349 or $399. But the fact that the VR system now costs more than the PS5 itself hasn’t sat well on the part of most consumers.
That said, if we take a look at other VR headset costs, like Meta’s $1,499.99 device, the PS VR2 bundle pricing is on point, especially when considering the great resolution, battery life, and various titles available via Sony’s iteration.
