“Since ChatGPT’s launch just nine months ago, we’ve seen teams adopt it in over 80% of Fortune 500 companies. We’ve heard from business leaders that they’d like a simple and safe way of deploying it in their organization. Early users of ChatGPT Enterprise—industry leaders like Block, Canva, Carlyle, The Estée Lauder Companies, PwC, and Zapier—are redefining how they operate and are using ChatGPT to craft clearer communications, accelerate coding tasks, rapidly explore answers to complex business questions, assist with creative work, and much more.”

What is ChatGPT Enterprise?

ChatGPT Enterprise is the paid subscription for businesses using ChatGPT. The Enterprise plan promises to not only save money over a scalable amount of users (employees of the company paying for the plan) but also more premium benefits.

The OpenAI website describes ChatGPT Enterprise as able to “assist and elevate every aspect of our working lives and make teams more creative and productive. Today marks another step towards an AI assistant for work that helps with any task, is customized for your organization, and that protects your company data.”

The corporate plan still uses GPT-4, the most advanced LLM (Large Language Model) developed by OpenAI. ChatGPT Enterprise doesn’t allow OpenAI to “train on your business data or conversations, and our models don’t learn from your usage”, so your proprietary and confidential information is safe.

ChatGPT Enterprise – Features & benefits

There are, of course, differences between the 2 paid subscriptions currently available for OpenAI’s AI chat bot. Here’s why it might be worth upgrading from the free plan or ChatGPT Plus.

What’s the difference between ChatGPT Enterprise and ChatGPT Plus?

Users of the ChatGPT Enterprise subscribtion plan will enjoy “enterprise-grade security and privacy, unlimited higher-speed GPT-4 access, longer context windows for processing longer inputs, advanced data analysis capabilities, customization options, and much more.”

ChatGPT Enterprise is available today with the following features & benefits:

Enterprise-grade security and privacy

  • Customer prompts and company data are not used for training OpenAI models.
  • Data encryption at rest (AES 256) and in transit (TLS 1.2+)
  • Certified SOC 2 compliant

Features for large-scale deployments

  • Admin console with bulk member management
  • SSO
  • Domain verification
  • Analytics dashboard for usage insights

The most powerful version of ChatGPT yet

  • Unlimited access to GPT-4 (no usage caps)
  • Higher-speed performance for GPT-4 (up to 2x faster)
  • Unlimited access to advanced data analysis (formerly known as Code Interpreter)
  • 32k token context windows for 4x longer inputs, files, or follow-ups
  • Shareable chat templates for your company to collaborate and build common workflows
  • Free credits to use our APIs if you need to extend OpenAI into a fully custom solution for your org

What’s features are coming to ChatGPT Enterprise?

OpenAI is public about what they’re working on next, listing the following features as next to arrive for business users:

  • Customization: Securely extend ChatGPT’s knowledge with your company data by connecting the applications you already use
  • Availability for all team sizes: a self-serve ChatGPT Business offering for smaller teams
  • Power tools: Even more powerful versions of Advanced Data Analysis and browsing that are optimized for work
  • Solutions for your function: more tools for specific roles, such as data analysts, marketers, customer support and more

How to use ChatGPT Enterprise

You can use ChatGPT Enterprise by upgrading from a free account to a paid subscription. However, this new tier requires talking to a sales representative, as opposed to the self-serve upgrade system of ChatGPT Plus.

  • Firstly, head to the ‘Contact Sales’ page here.
  • After that, enter your company details. OpenAI want your company details to verify that you’re a worthwhile sales lead for a sales rep to sell to. If you don’t have company details, you won’t be able to use the Enterprise plan.
  • Lastly, wait for a sales rep to get back to you via email!

Is it worth the upgrade?

The OpenAI models can be useful tools for many businesses. Depending on your company’s use cases and number of team members, ChatGPT could save your business both money and time. It’s hard to imagine a business for which this isn’t the case. This is of course corroborated by the 80% of Fortune 500 companies already using the AI chat bot (based on accounts registered with company email addresses).

In short, the answer is almost certainly yes for any mid or large sized business.
