1TB NM790 NVMe SSD deal surfaces best price in four months – a slight storage win
Table of Contents
There’s no telling if or when SSD prices will return to historical lows. However, we have spotted one NVMe SSD deal you may want to check out. It’s not the lowest-ever price, but the 1TB NM790 with heatsink is at least at its lowest price since April this year. The six-month low has pushed the NVMe down to $188.49. Now, considering the 7400 MB/s SSD was at a sky-high $260 earlier this month, this latest change is worth highlighting.

Why we’d pick the Lexar 1TB NM790 SSD with Heatsink
Relatively good value in 2026
At the deal price, the 1TB NM790 SSD with Heatsink actually represents decent value for where we are this year. Lexar is an established name, and when you see Samsung’s 1TB PCIe Gen 4 NVMe variants at around $240, spending almost $60 less on the same capacity is a bonus for value-first buyers.
Speedy enough 1TB storage
The reason Samsung’s 990, 990 EVO, and 990 Pro NVMe variants (and others) are more expensive is simply…performance. However, the 1TB NM790 has snappy sequential read and write speeds of 7,400 and 6,500 MB/s, respectively, so it’s not slow. The random read and write performance is good, too, considering the price difference.

Improved cooling for PC and PS5
One benefit of picking this NVMe SSD is the attached heatsink. Better heat dissipation means lower temperatures and more power-efficient and stable performance. That may matter less in a desktop PC with plenty of airflow. However, Lexar notes this drive is compatible with the PS5, and in a more enclosed space, the passive cooling will sustain your console’s performance.
What to consider before you buy
The deal price for the NM790 is better, but not great. Still, if you need a 1TB NVMe SSD right now, and it needs to be below $200, this is a good pick. It’s especially so if you’re shopping to expand your PlayStation 5 storage, thanks to the heatsink. Overall, the performance of the NM790 1TB is good, and it is enough for most PC users. But for those who want more, the best NVMe SSDs may be worth a look.
