Today I’m seeing a fair few Acer gaming laptops that have hit some of their lowest prices ever on Amazon, and this RTX 5050 Nitro model is the one to go for if you want something punchy but budget-friendly. It’s currently down 17% on its list price, and coming in at $999.99, which is, from my experience, about as cheap as it gets for an RTX 50-series laptop, and a good pick for competitive gaming, playing at high settings in most AAA titles, productivity, and multitasking.

As mentioned, it features an RTX 5050, which is the entry-level and most affordable 50-series mobile GPU and has 8GB of VRAM. That’s paired with an Intel Core 7 240H, which is a decent processor for the price, offering strong multitasking capabilities thanks to its 10 cores and 16 threads, alongside solid performance for high-refresh-rate gaming with low latency. You’ve also got 16GB of DDR5 and a surprising addition of a 1TB SSD, instead of a 512GB option, which is more than welcome at this price point. Additionally, its display is very well-suited to this laptop’s capabilities. A high 180Hz refresh rate is more than enough for smooth gameplay at high framerates, and its IPS display with matte finish is great for making colors pop and providing clear visibility in bright environments, even from wide viewing angles.

In recent months, finding 50-series laptops under $1,000 hasn’t been the norm from what I’ve seen. This deal is certainly worth considering if you’re looking for something new that’s great for gaming on the go and not completely overkill for a first-time gaming laptop pick. Read on for a quick run-through of this laptop’s key features, pricing history, and more of our top laptop deals.

What we like about this Acer Nitro V RTX 5050 gaming laptop

Excellent GPU for the price

The RTX 505 is a great pick for FHD and FHD+ gaming and handling relatively demanding creative tasks, like video and photo editing. Featuring 2GB more VRAM than the RTX 4050 mobile, laptops like this one make a lot of sense if you’re looking for something entry-level by today’s higher standards.

Strong CPU choice that’s not overkill, or overly expensive

The Intel Core 7 240H is very well aligned to this laptop’s configuration and is a smart pick given that this machine does not target power users. You’re still getting a 5.2 GHz boost clock speed and 24MB L3 cache, alongside a decent core count, which is more than enough for high refresh rate, competitive gaming, and relatively heavy multitasking, too.

High refesh rate display with good picture quality

This 180Hz, 1200p IPS screen gives you everything you actually need for gaming and general usage. It’s crisp and clear, has wide viewing angles, anti-glare, and can accommodate up to 180fps.

1TB of storage is a big win at this price point

I’d expect to see a 512GB SSD for this price, and with most AAA games taking up more space than ever, having 1TB can really alleviate some storage woes. That’s especially so, if you’re using this for more than just gaming.
